What Are Green Smoothies?

It may seem obvious, but not everyone knows what a green smoothie is. In fact, I didn’t know what a green smoothie is, until I got interested in it and researched about it.

If you’re just starting out on making green smoothies, let me help you in understanding what it’s all about, ok?

As the name suggests, green smoothies are literally colored green. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can only use green ingredients for this type of drink. It just so happens that green ingredients have a tinting effect even when mixed with other ingredients. That’s why the end result always turns out to be green.

You can use fruits and vegetables when making green smoothies. Although this type of health drink is typically comprised of green veggies, other types of ingredients can be used for its nutritional value too. Moreover, adding other ingredients, especially fruits, will make this type of drink more pleasant tasting than if it only contains vegetables.

Green smoothies are also, well, smooth. It can be compared to the texture of milkshake, but it’s supposed to be smoother. And if you’re into slushie drinks, know that smoothies are thicker than that, too. When making your own smoothies, however, you can customize its thickness and texture according to your own preferences.
